GYN Surgery & Procedures

Our physicians are focused on patient-centered care in a welcoming environment. Our board-certified surgeons perform specific GYN surgery and procedures to diagnose, treat, and manage gynecologic conditions. While surgery is rarely the first method of treatment, it may be the most effective at correcting your condition so you can return to living a full and active life. We invite you to learn more about our approach and to contact us at one of our locations in Rock Hill and Fort Mill, SC, to schedule an appointment.

What is GYN Surgery?

Any type of surgery performed on any part of a woman’s reproductive organs is considered gynecologic surgery. These areas are the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. While there are some procedures that can be performed at our office, others are more complicated and must be done at a hospital. These procedures usually require anesthesia so you will not be awake while it happens. Common surgeries that we perform include:

  • Hysterectomy
  • Myomectomy
  • Tubal Ligation
  • Dilation and Curettage (D&C)
  • Loop Electrical Excision Procedures (LEEP)
  • NovaSure Endometrial Ablation
  • Minimally Invasive Procedures

How to Prepare for GYN Surgery & Procedures

Every procedure is different, so in order to prepare you will need to discuss what steps to take prior with your doctor. Here are a few guidelines for the day of your surgery:

  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • You may be required to fast before most surgical procedures, so no food after midnight
  • Arrange for transportation to and from your procedure
  • Ask your doctor about whether or not you should take certain medications the morning of surgery

You will receive careful, detailed instructions from your doctor. Be sure to ask any pertinent questions and raise any concerns so that we can address them before your surgery. We want you to feel as comfortable and confident as possible. After your surgery there will be a recovery time and necessary follow-up appointments.
